RDM golf day 2011
15.07.2011
As the sun crept over the horizon to bleach the lush course of Richmond Gulf Club on Sudbrook Lane, we knew it was going to be a spectacular day.
Around 12.30 keen golfers from the property industry swarmed the steps of Sudbrook Mansion to feast on soup and sandwiches before hitting the green. Six teams of four players grouped together to form the competition for the day.
The first cries of fore announced the beginning of the tournament. From this point onwards the teams perambulated around the course whilst playing some excellent, and some not so accurate shots. Although the spirit of competition was in the air, the laughter and the frivolity flowed freely, creating a day that was enjoyed by all.
The golfing drew to a close and the days efforts were washed down with refreshing beverages on the manicured lawns of Sudbrook Mansion, close to the collar of the 18th hole. When the sun had started to begin the days journey into darkness, dinner was served in the ornate dining room that characterises Sudbrook’s historical past. After everybody had had their fill, the prickle of competition once again raised its head and the results of the day were announced.
The team that won with an exceptional 92 was Mike Freely, Adrian Bouch, Luke Hacking and Jerry Young. They were pursued closely by Gary Healy, James Maskey, Simon Knight and Tim Davis, who just missed poll position with 90. Simon Knight however still managed a win by coming in first in the individuals table with 40, with Matthew Condren coming second with 38. The longest drive was secured by James Maskey and nearest to pin was claimed by James Liew.
The losing team AKA the spoons, were Simon Russell, James Liew, Peter Jerram and Grant Westall-Reece. Although defeated they still scored a very respectable 70. The biggest individual loser of the day went to Peter Jerram, who although scoring only 18 points made the day with his jovial repartee.
Everybody at RDM had an exceptional day out and would like to thank everybody who made it happen and who participated. See you next year!
