Brief
Route Runner approached PL&N in 1998 – a revolutionary idea in mapping! The agency advised on all aspects of marketing starting with the name and brand development. Printed material included packaging, instruction leaflet, and business stationery.
A product offering an alternative to the perennial problem of folding, unfolding, and reading maps on the go. A narrow opportunity in the timeline of technology!
Deliverables
Marketing advice led to direct selling and the advertising campaign for Route Runner comprised direct mail and press advertising in the colour supplements of weekend newspapers. Certainly more involved but was it harder to achieve results back then?
Results
The Route Runner Cartridge Map System saw early direct sales and interest from a number of retailers. Despite being somewhat archaic technology by today’s standards there are still some units out there on eBay
